The view from my perch on the mountain

Hussy Mountain Laurels

THE BOSS had the day off and we both needed a breather so we loaded the Big Red Puppy in the truck and went out wanderin’.

Mostly cloudy skies and a thick haze made for poor lighting for photography as we crossed Hussy Mountain on  CC Camp Road.

Capture

Our route over the mountain, unpaved and one lane with rocky outcroppings on one side and a steep drop on the other for most of the 6 mile distance. Frankie got a lesson in white knuckle driving but she also swore that if we met any oncoming traffic we wouldn’t be the ones pulling over!

Big Red Puppy (Buddy)

Even though I didn’t shoot many frames the weather was cooler than it has been and it felt great to just get out and go where ever the road took us!

Super photo of Buddy. What a happy dog!. Like you say, it is good to get out and about. I would have to pay a lot of money for a Kalmia, here:>)

They grow wild here, In some places the shrubs are so thick that you can’t see the leaves for all the blossoms.

  3. Rambob and I lived together for 10 years before deciding one year we would drive from Delaware to Tennessee and elope. We found a little country church to get married in and on the way, he stopped and picked me some mountain laurel so I would have flowers to walk with. That day, mountain laurel became my favorite flower 😉 so I can look at pictures of them all day long!
